Obituary

James Edward Allen, 56 years old, of Scarborough, ME passed away peacefully due to complications of early onset dementia on April 21, 2024 at Gosnell House surrounded by family and friends. Jim was born to William M. Allen, Jr. and Nancy D. Doughty Allen in Bangor, ME on June 8, 1967. He graduated from Hermon High school in 1985. Many people knew Jim through his career in food sales and he was best known as "The Chip Guy". Jim enjoyed playing the drums, fishing, muscle cars, beer, and he was Queensryche's number one fan. Jim cherished his family most of all. Jim had an infectious laugh and brightened up anybody's day. He was a shining light in dark times, a comedian, and a great listener. He gave the best hugs and never missed a recital, game or fishing trip. Jim is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Hynes, her husband, Blake and their two daughters Eleanor and Spencer. His two sons, Tyler Allen (fiancé Emma), Joshua Allen and their mother Karin Allen. Jim is survived by his mother, Nancy Allen, and seven siblings: Mark (Joyce) Allen, Russ (Kathy) Allen, Bill (Janet) Allen, Peter (Donna) Allen, Diane Allen, Janet (Billy) Ramos, Lish (Cliff) Allen, Jeremy Allen and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his father, William Allen, Jr., nephew Billy Mac Allen, and family dog, Chelsea. The family requests that you remember Jim drumming on his steering wheel with the windows down, music blaring and an ear-to-ear smile. A celebration of life will be held at Camp Ketcha on Saturday, April 27th from 3-6:00 PM. Ketcha Outdoors is located at 336 Black Point Rd, Scarborough, ME 04074.
