Obituary

Windham – Irving W. Davis, 81, entered eternal life on February 14, 2018. He was born in Portland, Maine on August 18, 1936, the son of Elmer and Ellen Davis. Irving grew up in the area and graduated from Deering High School in 1955. After high school, Irving went to work at Monmouth Canning Factory where he met his wife, Anita. They married in 1964 and a year later, started their family. During the years, Irving worked for General Electric and then moved on to work for Pratt & Whitney. In 1987, Irving starting working part time for CE (Controlled Environment Equipment Services) in Westbrook. He retired from Pratt & Whitney in 1999 but continued to work for CE until he retired in 2014. Irving was always happy wherever he worked. He especially enjoyed the crew at CE where he was given a nickname of "butthead". Even after retiring in 2014, he always made frequent stops in there to see everyone. When Irving wasn't working two jobs, he enjoyed golfing, playing horseshoes, photography and of course, sports. An avid New England Patriots fan, he also enjoyed the Red Sox, Celtics and the Bruins. A favorite place he enjoyed going with his wife was Walt Disney World. Irving is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Anita; son Walter Davis of Windham, daughter Lisa Leighton and her husband Ken of Windham; granddaughter Danielle Hale of Portland and grandson Jaydon Leighton of Windham (who always called him Grandpa Yoda). Also surviving Irving is a great granddaughter Victoria Smart and great grandson Locke Hale; several nieces and nephews; and a grand-puppy who he loved, Kyzer. Irving is predeceased by both parents; sisters Irene Rogers and Ruthie Spiller, and brothers Burton Davis and Richard Davis. We would like to thank the caring staff at Maine Medical Center who provided him with a very peaceful and pain-free passing. There will not be any services. Arrangements are in the care of the Windham Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham, Maine.
