Irene Marie Arsenault, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, died at age 88 on March 6, 2026.
Born July 27, 1937, in Bath, Maine, she was the fourth child of seven of John Arsenault and Elinor (St. Pierre) Arsenault.
Irene has lived in Westbrook since she was four years old, attended St. Hyacinth’s School and went on to graduate from Westbrook High School, class of 1955. Shortly after graduating high school, she was employed by Milliken, Tomlinson Company (now SuperValu) for 40 years, retiring in 1996.
Throughout her life, Irene enjoyed her social events, including country line dancing, Volksmarsch walks, Bingo, playing cards, and getting together with friends and family. She also enjoyed watching movies, drawing and writing. In 2000, Irene was awarded the top prize for a paper she wrote and entered in Westbrook’s 1999 Legacy Contest, entitled “My Home Town”. It was published in the March 22, 2000, edition of the American Journal.
She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Peter and Paul (Jane) Arsenault; grandchildren, Jason, Adam & Carrie Arsenault of Westbrook; Ryan (Deanna) Arsenault of Standish and Tyler (Katherine) Arsenault and great-grandchildren, Lucy Rose and Klara Irene Arsenault of Vermont; her brother, Richard Arsenault of North Carolina; her sister, Pauline (Brad) Leach of Gorham; her “personal chauffeur” Frank Porter; many nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors who enriched her life.
Irene was predeceased by her parents, John and Elinor Arsenault; brother, John J. Arsenault, Jr.; sisters, Sylvia Fish, Anita Larochelle, and Barbara Pederson.
A celebration of Irene's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Dolby Blais & Segee Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook, Maine.
Friends and relatives are welcome to visit from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
