Old Orchard Beach, Herbert A. Drew, Jr. Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather Herbert A. Drew, Jr., 79, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017. Born in Silver Lake, NH on October 6, 1937, Herb resided throughout his life in Gorham, Westbrook, and most recently Old Orchard Beach. Herb is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Arey); his two sons, Greg and wife Mary, of Altoona, PA and Chris and wife Amy, of Westbrook, his granddaughters; Lindsay Drew of Hershey, PA, Kayla Drew of Conshohocken, PA, Madison Drew of Gorham, grandson Aidan Drew of Westbrook and his great-grandson Chase of Hershey, PA. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Herbert A. Drew, Sr. and Beatrice Drew, his sisters Patty Ball and Betty Exchange, a brother David Drew and his granddaughter Jessica Drew. After graduating from Gorham High School, class of 1955, Herb served in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard, was a firefighter for the City of Westbrook, a member of the Saccarappa Masonic Lodge #86, and was employed by the S.D. Warren Paper Company. Herb was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, and affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Papa Herb", who considered him to be the world's best homemade Chex Mix maker. He will be greatly missed, and remembered as a kind hearted, generous man who was devoted to his family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 the Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook, with a funeral service to immediately follow.
