Obituary

Henry "Hank" R. Lyon Jr. With deep sorrow, the family shares that Henry "Hank" R. Lyon Jr. unexpectedly passed away at his home on November 11, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on August 11, 1956, in Rumford, Maine, he was the beloved son of Henry R. Lyon and Ida (Melanson) Lyon. The youngest of four, Hank grew up alongside his sister Jan and brothers Greg and David—many cherished memories were made together at Pine Point Beach. Hank attended Rumford High School, where he met the love of his life and best friend of 50 years, Trudy. Following graduation from Rumford High School, Hank pursued and obtained his Associate's degree in Telecommunication Technology from Central Maine Technical College. Hank and Trudy built a wonderful life in Windham and welcomed two amazing sons, whom he was so incredibly proud of. Hank embarked on a long and successful career in the telecommunications industry, ultimately retiring from FairPoint Communications. Hank had a passion for babying his many "toys" over the years—his Harley-Davidson, red Z06 Corvette, tractor, campers, boat, and trucks—and he took great pride in keeping his property immaculate. He loved camping (especially at Hampton Beach), boating, playing cribbage, enjoying happy hours with his CC and ginger, and faithfully following the Celtics and Patriots. His favorite moments were playing cards with Trudy, talking through projects with his boys, telling stories (always with a joke along the way), and being surrounded by the people he loved most. His family truly was his greatest accomplishment, and he was happiest in the company of his wife, his sons, and especially his grandsons—brown ale or whiskey in hand, a plate mounded high with food, and still going back for seconds. Hank was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Trudy; his sons Bradley (and wife Megan) and Jason (and wife Angela); his three grandsons, Dominic, Gabriel, and Max—the true joys of his life; his brothers Gregory (and wife Constance), David; his sister Janice (and husband Nel); and numerous nieces and nephews. His family meant everything to him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Windham Rescue for all their efforts. A private Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends (details to follow). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.
