GORHAM—Henry J. Hunt, 92, died at the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough on April 28, 2017. He was born on January 31, 1925, a son of Charles and Ora (Pendleton) Hunt. He grew up on a farm in Buxton and was a graduate of the Hanson School. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War 2 as an electrician mate. Upon his return home, Henry continued his education at the Gorham Normal School, where he studied mechanics. On July 15, 1947, he married Virginia Waterman and shared 64 years of marriage until her passing in 2011. Henry spent his working years as a technician for New England Telephone and retired in the 80's after 40 years of employment. He was a mechanically inclined man, always willing to help his family and described as a jack of all trades. Henry's favorite pasttimes include fishing, hunting, and being in the great outdoors. He especially enjoyed being at his camp in Standish and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his three sons, Guy Hunt and his wife Lin, Edward Hunt and his wife Doreen, and Richard "Chuck" Hunt; grandchildren, Stephanie Hunt, Kristopher Hunt, Ethan Martin-Hunt, and Ariel Cote; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Hunt, and a sister, Elizabeth Sargent. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10am at the Flanders Cemetery, Route 22, Buxton, ME.
