WINDHAM – Helen Joyce Varney, 93, passed away on July 22, 2021. She was born on September 12, 1927, the daughter of John and Blanche Goretzka. Helen enjoyed bowling, gardening, spending time with family and friends and volunteering. She served in the U.S. Navy WAVES and was a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son, Richard L. Varney, Jr.; grandsons, Jason and Justin; granddaughter, Jessica; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Varney, Sr.; son David M. Varney; and siblings, Fred, Bill, Francis, and Deloris. A mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, ME 04062. Burial at Arlington Cemetery, Windham will immediately follow.
