Obituary

Westbrook- Helen Hazel (Cail) Logan,       On April 4th, 2017 on her 91st birthday, Helen went to be with her Lord.  She was born in Pine Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Seymour and Laura Cail. She married Amos Logan in 1946, and supported him through life and his passing from cancer in 1998.  After marrying Amos, she became a homemaker & mother and lived in Harvey Station, New Brunswick, Canada until moving with her family to Westbrook, Maine in 1953.  She was a member of the Westbrook United Methodist Church most of her life.  When they needed to close their local parish, she joined The First Baptist Church.  Over the years, Helen served as president of the United Methodist Women for several years, as a Southern District Officer, a Girl Scout assistant leader, a Key Woman in the Greater Portland Church Women United, and participated in many other activities of the church and community.  She loved to visit the elderly, doing so well into her later years, and she loved doing her church work.  She, Amos, and her children made numerous trips yearly to Canada.  Most "Logan" outings were visitations to family members.  As time, balance, and aging caught up with her, she chose to go out less and seemed to find pleasure in getting photos and stories about grandchildren and great grandchildren, often showing off their pictures repeatedly.  Everyone always looked forward to her Potato Salad at family outings. She was predeceased by her husband Amos Logan, her parents, sisters - Eve Warren & Isabell Weatherby, and brothers – Sanford Cail, Austin Cail, & Roy Cail. She will be missed by her sister Eliza Lageman, her children - son Garry Amos Logan (Elena), son Eric Logan (Linda), daughter Lorna Logan, and daughter Jill Doiron (Bruce), her grandchildren - Shayne Croy, Jamie Logan (Jen), Melissa Logan (Bob), Derek Logan (Karen), Amanda Logan, and her great grandchildren - Danielle Logan, Noah Logan, Justin Logan, Ethan Logan, Shiloh Logan, Willa Logan, and Milou Logan.  She will also be remembered by many family & friends.   Visiting Hours will be held Monday, April 10, from 6 to 8 PM at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, April 11th at the First Baptist Church in Westbrook. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
