GORHAM—Harry Charles Francis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 18, 2018 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 1, 1944, a son of Henry and Mary (Brace) Francis. Harry grew up in England, graduating from school in 1960. On September 21, 1968, he married the love of his life, Sonia (Foad); Harry passed away three days before celebrating their golden anniversary of 50 years. Harry spent his career working in international banking, which lead him and his family to travel throughout the years. During his career, they lived in England, Hong Kong, Chicago, San Francisco, Hong Kong again, and New York. Harry eventually retired to Maine in 1991 and became involved in the boating industry. He and his family first came to America in 1976 and in 1992 he happily chose to become an American citizen. Harry will be remembered for his intellect, wisdom, unmistakable sense of humor and love for his family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sonia Francis of Gorham; children, Michael Francis of Portland, Rachel Petersen and her husband Cris of Manhattan, NY, and Susan Munz and her husband Doug, and their three children Anna, Ethan and Christian currently residing in Nairobi, Kenya; a sister, Mollie Edwards and her husband Ken of Essex, England and niece, Julie and her family in Wales, UK. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 23 at 2pm at the Gorham Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 76 State St., Gorham, ME 04038.
