Windham – Harry Frank Burnell, 68, died on May 19, 2016, due to complications after a long illness. He was born in Windham on February 14, 1948, the son of Perley and Gertrude (Pottle) Burnell. Harry grew up in the Portland area and attended local schools. On May 1, 1965, he married Sherrie Thompson, and together they raised their three children. Harry worked in construction, and was a handyman by trade. He could often be found working in his garage, either woodworking or working on odds and ends until he became ill. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing with his best friend, Normand on Pettingill Pond. Harry also loved his Dachshunds, Princess, Harley, Oscar, Cash, Rainey, and Louie; and would often help Sherrie with the dog rescue. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sherrie; daughters, Laurie Buck and husband Scott, Vicky Allen and significant other, Andy Arsenault; grandson, little Philip Allen; former son-in-law Philip Allen; and his grand-doggie, Eva Buck, all of Windham. In addition to his parents, Harry is predeceased by his son, David Burnell in 1985. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. Burial will be private at a later date.
