Portland, ME  Harriet Leslie Macalaster 93, born March 25, 1925, only child of Harriet Lillis Leslie and John Leslie died Saturday June 10, 2017 of natural causes.  She leaves her daughter Joann DeCosta, her son John Macalaster, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Attended UNH and graduated from Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in Newton, Mass in 1946. She was the widow of Arthur Loring Macalaster who died in 1973. She was a registered nurse for over thirty years.   She worked as a school and public health nurse in Stratford, NJ for ten years, and as a surgical nurse in NH hospitals.   She became a Red Cross Nurse in Melbourne, Florida working many years in the blood program.   She also worked for five years as an industrial nurse for J.F. Mcelwain Co in Nashua, NH. She was a member of the Westbrook-Warren Church in Westbrook, Maine since 1990.  She was active as a Sunday school teacher. Private arrangements have been made with Blais & Hay Funeral Home in Westbrook, Maine where she will laid to rest next to her late husband in a family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Hookset, NH.  Online condolences can be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com
