Harold W. Macomber, 82, of Duck Pond Road, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at St. Joseph Manor. A lifelong resident of Westbrook, he was born here, the son of Walter and Ethel (Dearborn) Macomber. Harold served in the U.S. Army. He worked at H.P. Hood for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Highland Lake Congregational Church, the Kora Shrine, Lake Region Shrine Club, the Temple Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star Mizpah, American Legion Post 62, National Grange, Maine State Grange, Cumberland Pomona Grange #15, and the Highland Lake Grange #87. Harold enjoyed singing, especially in the church choir, and whistling. Harold was predeceased by a twin brother Walter Harold Macomber Jr. and sisters Marjorie White and Dorothy Champagne. He is survived by his wife Laura (Andrews) Macomber of Westbrook, daughter Debra Ivers and husband Peter of Westbrook, daughter Susan; half sister s Esther Cleveland of Portland and Arlet Shiers and husband William of FL; as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are welcome to get together from 10 to 11 AM Monday at the Highland Lake Congregational Church followed by a memorial service at 11 AM.
