Obituary

OXFORD - Glenda M. Littlefield Bernard,73 of Oxford passed away after a struggle with dementia at Hospice House, Auburn, August 7th 2019. Glenda was born in Portland, Maine June 6, 1946 to the late George E. and LaVerna Littlefield. She graduated from Portland High School in 1964. While at Portland High, Glenda was in the sorority Teen Clickers. Glenda loved to sew and draw. She designed and produced fashionable clothing and accessories. Glenda graduated from Pierre's School of Cosmetology while in high school. After high school graduation she attended Rhode Island School of Design On, September 4th, 1965, she married Harry Joseph Bernard Jr. of Falmouth; and, in 1968 they settled in Cumberland for twenty years where they raised two sons Robert E. and Cony James Bernard. Glenda loved to roller skate and ice skate. She helped produce many shows and performances while designing costumes and competition dresses. She was an accomplished skater winning many awards. Glenda loved to garden and landscape. She was sole proprietor of a landscape design and maintenance company. She grew award winning fruit and flowers. She had a large clientele for design, new construction and maintenance. To the amazement of her constituents, she would hand draw precise designs with life like details. Glenda was a loving mother, devoted wife, a best friend to many and a good friend to even more. Glenda loved "skipping work" to meet with her Gal Gang the Golden Girls, a tight lifelong coupe of girlfriends. She is survived by her immediate family, husband Harry "Joe" of Oxford, two sons Robert and partner Tracy McMahon of Scarborough and Cony of Tracy, CA; granddaughters Haley Bernard Davies and Nathan Davies both of Oceanside CA and Maddison Bernard of San Diego, CA. She leaves behind many friends with incredible memories and a large extended family. The family thanks the staff at Rumford Community Home, Rumford Hospital and Hospice House for the loving care Glenda received while there. Graveside service will be held 11:00am on Monday, August 12th 2019 at Eastern Cemetery, Main Street, Gorham, Maine
