Gorham, Me - Gladys May (Harriman) Libby, 93, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. Gladys was born on May 1, 1932 in Westbrook, Me and was the daughter of Vivian Harriman and Nina (Finson) Harriman. She attended Gorham Schools and in 1950 married Arthur H. Libby, the love of her life. They settled on Mosher Rd. in Gorham where they raised 3 daughters. In addition to running the household, Gladys worked alongside Arthur running a secondhand appliance and furniture business. Later, she worked at Gorham Manor.
Gladys enjoyed singing with Arthur while he played the guitar, dancing, gardening and bowling. She loved spending time with family at their camp, on the point where the Little River meets the Presumpscot River.
Gladys was a sweet, loving, caring wife, mother and nana with a beautiful smile who will be sadly missed.
Gladys is survived by her 3 daughters, Cheryle Libby and her partner Greg Johnson of Gorham, Me; Bonnie Hawkes and husband, Jeff of Buxton, Me; and Doreen Lofgren and husband, Kevin of Newfield, Me; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur of 55 years, her youngest granddaughter, Libby Lofgren and her siblings; Mildred (Harriman) Knight, Llewellyn, Aldelbert, Sidney and Edward Harriman.
In her final years, Gladys resided at the Inn at Village Square in Gorham, where she felt at home and received excellent care. She spent her last 2 years at Ledgewood Manor in Windham, where she continued to be supported with compassion and dignity.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., in Windham. Visiting hours will be at 12:00 p.m.until the hour of service. Committal prayers and burial will be later in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Gorham, Me.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that Gladys be remembered in donations to Ledgewood Manor or The Inn at Village Square.
