Obituary

Gorham Gertrude M. (Larrivee) Parker, 91, passed away Sunday June 26, 2016 at Ledgewood Manor. She was born December 31, 1924 in Gorham a daughter of James and Clara (Lamb) Larrivee. Gertrude grew up in Gorham and attended local schools. She was a 45 year member and past president of the Smith Wagner Auxiliary Post, and longtime volunteer for the South Windham Library, and Gorham Cemetery Association. Her true passion was spending time with her family and social gatherings with friends. An avid sports fan Gertrude was always the first to grab the sports page of the newspaper. She had a fiery spirit and a real sense of humor. Gertrude also enjoyed her Thursday "coffee" gatherings with her friends. An avid gardiner she spent many hours on her hands and knees tending to her flowers. In addition to her parents Gertrude was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years Clayton Parker; brother, James Larivee Jr., and sisters, Margaret Verrill and Beatrix Mulkern. She is survived by her sons, Stephen Parker and his wife Sheila of Gorham, Chris Parker and friend Christine Riolo of Gray, John Smith III and wife Julie of Spring, Texas, and David Smith and wife Susan of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Deanna, Michael, Allison, Jessica, Melissa, and Brittany, and 10 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Friday July 8, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. An hour of visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Gorham. Following services, a gathering celebrating Gertrude's life will be held at the White Rock Grange on Rte. 237. There will be refreshments available.
