Gerard (Ben) Tardiff, 91, of Westbrook passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at a Portland hospital. He was born in Westbrook, the son of Theodore and Alice Poitras Tardiff. He served in the US Army during World War II and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Ben worked for the S.D. Warren Paper Co. for many years before retiring. He loved to go hunting and fishing, his favorite place to go was in Jackman. Ben also enjoyed gambling and making trips to Foxwoods Casino. Ben enjoyed spending time with his friends and playing cards at River's Edge Deli. He was predeceased by his wife Marie Antoinette Cote Tardiff in 1997. He is survived by a sister Reina Metivier of Westbrook; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday at St. Anthony's Church in Westbrook. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery.
