Obituary

Gerard Philip Drouin, 79, known to friends and family as “Jerry”, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. A longtime resident of Westbrook, Jerry was residing at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris at the time of his passing. He was known for his sense of humor, strength, love and kindness, and spent his final days surrounded by the love of his family.

Jerry was born on May 29, 1946, in Biddeford, Maine, to Philias and Maria (Neault) Drouin. Following his graduation from Westbrook High School in 1965, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he began his lifelong career as a machine part inspector, working for GE, Rich, Tool & Die, and Valmet.

A devout Catholic, Jerry was deeply involved with St. Mary’s and St. Hyacinth parishes in Westbrook, serving as a choir member and cantor. He was also a Fourth Degree member of the Westbrook Knights of Columbus.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan (Gagne) Drouin, his son, Jeffrey Drouin; and his daughter, Lynn Dunphe and her husband Jeff of Westbrook. He also leaves behind three sisters, Aline Charest and her husband, Michael, of Florida; Lucille Wagner of Florida; and Lorraine Glynn of Maine. Jerry was a proud grandfather to four grandsons - Justin Drouin of Florida, Dylan Turner of Springvale, Keagan Turner of Kansas, and Jeffrey Dunphe of South Paris - and two granddaughters, Semelia Turner of West Virginia, and Kayla Dunphe and her husband Victor of Westbrook. He also leaves behind seven cherished great-grandchildren.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the Maine Veterans’ Home of South Paris for their exceptional care and support.

Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Dolby Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hyacinth Church, 268 Brown St, Westbrook. A graveside committal with Air Force honors will immediately follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St, Portland. A Celebration of Life will follow the graveside service at Stockhouse Restaurant and Sports Pub, 506 Main St, Westrook.

Jerry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, PO Box 750, Merrifield, VA, 22116-9651.
