George N. Whitzell, 83 of Westbrook Passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Westbrook the son of Joseph and Ethel Robinson Whitzell. He attended Westbrook schools and later served in the U.S. Navy, the US Air Force, and the Army National Guard George worked at S.D. Warren paper company for 36 years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He is survived by his wife Gerry; His sons Fred and wife Lynne of Ashville North Carolina and Michael and wife Wendi of Surprise Arizona; His daughters Pat and husband Roger Lamontagne of Standish Carol Whitzell of Surprise Arizona and Diana and husband Michael Spofford of Westbrook; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, at Blais and Hay funeral home 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Hycaniths Church, St. Anthony's Parish in Westbrook.
