George "Bart" Hartnell Bartlett, Jr., of Raymond, 84, died after a short illness July 21, 2023, at Gosnell Hospice House. He was born March 20, 1939, in Portland, Maine. The son of the late George H. Bartlett, Sr. and Olive (Morrill) Bartlett. George graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School, Class of 1957. He maintained lifelong friendships with many in his graduating class. After graduation he attended the University of Maine at Orono earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then served in the U.S. Army. He married Jane (Wiley) Bartlett and they settled in Raymond. They celebrated 57 years of marriage in September. George was a passionate business and community leader. He owned and operated Busy Bee Laundromat in Windham, and was actively involved with Sebago Lakes Rotary and Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce. He also served as an international ambassador for the Rotary Club with his many trips to Romania. He represented the spirit of Maine and made friends wherever he traveled. He embodied energy, kindness and optimism in the way he approached life and business. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by two of his brothers, David and Kenneth "Kenny". Surviving, in addition to his wife, Jane (Wiley) Bartlett, are his daughter, Vicki Bartlett, of Raymond; son, George and wife, Carrie (Sawyer) Bartlett, of Casco; one grandchild, Owen; his brother William "Will" and wife, Anna-Leila Bartlett, of Hamden, Connecticut; his nephew, David; his sister-in-law, Tessie in Hawaii; his nephew, Stanley, and niece, Princess. In addition to direct family, George is also survived by a few "adoptive" family members Hilary Mansfield of Raymond; Gabriela Saftiou of Romania; and the Chong family, originally from Korea. The family wishes to thank the staff at Maine Medical Center and Gosnell Hospice House for the incredible care George and his family received during his brief time at each location. Also a special thanks to his fellow Rotarians, neighbors, friends, community and family for their help and support during this time. George's service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, at Dolby, Blaise and Segee Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, South Windham. A procession and interment will follow to Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland.
