George Andrew Baron, 87, died unexpectedly while dealing with short-term illness on April 3, 2026, at his home in Windham, Maine. He was born on December 6, 1938, in Nanticoke, PA , the son of the late Anna (Kruchowski) and John Baron – both of whom had migrated to the U.S. from Slovakia. George graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1957 and afterwards served as a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 through 1962 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. Then living in Fairfield CT, George later joined and proudly served with the Westport, CT Police Department where he worked as a Patrol Officer from 1971 to 2001. George later moved to Windham, ME to enjoy his retirement with his wife Elaine Baron (deceased). In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters Mary, Irene, and Ana, all of whom lived in Nanticoke. George is survived by his beloved children including son John Baron and wife Anne Mitchell of Freeport, ME, daughter Kimberly Topar and her son Camren, of Scarborough, ME, daughter Amy Godo, husband George, and son Jack of Bridgeport, CT, son Paul Baron of Waterford, ME and his son Miles and daughter Aurora, as well as his nieces Roxanne, Noreen, and Linda and their families.
The family wishes to thank all of George’s kind and loving friends, former colleagues, and neighbors who provided assistance to him in recent years and especially of late. Warmest thanks in particular to Cheryl Connolly and her family including her daughter Heather and her sons, Oliver and Harrison, and daughter Heidi and her family for their unwavering love and support. George cared for them deeply.
A memorial service will be held in George’s honor at the Trinity Lutheran Church located at 612 Main Street, Westbrook, ME on Saturday, April 11, 2026, beginning at 11:00AM. In addition, there will be a gravesite ceremony at the Lawncroft Cemetery located at 1740 Blackrock Turnpike, Fairfield, CT where George will be interred on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11AM. All who knew George or his family are welcome to attend either ceremony. There will be a reception for attendees after each ceremony.
