George P. Bangs, Sr. (87) of Gorham passed away April 8, 2025 at Ledgewood Manor in Windham. Born on January 29, 1938 George was raised in Waldoboro, ME by his mother Lucille Smith Bangs. He lived in Gorham most of his adult life working as a store manager for Gorham Pharmacy and in the S.D. Warren/Sappi paper mill. George was a former member of the Gorham Fire Department as well as a member of the Cumberland County Search & Rescue. He was also the former President and member of the Gorham Snow Goers, and was a life member of Kapa Delta Phi for over 50 years. George enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, working in the outdoors, and all sports in general. George was predeceased by his wife Patricia Cook Bangs, two sons David and Stephen, his mother, and two half brothers Richard Wilshire and Robert Wilshire. He is survived by a son George, Jr. and his wife Deborah, and a daughter Cynthia. George has 4 grandchildren, Maxwell, Alyssa, Travis, and Kylie and several great grand-children. The family would like to thank Debbie from Home Instead for her care and compassion this past year. They would also like to thank the compassionate staff of Northern Light Hospice and the staff of Ledgewood Manor for all their care, support, and kindness. At George's request, there will be no public service and the burial will be private.
