George was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose life was defined by service—to his family, his community, and his country. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Apt, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was a dedicated father to his son, Kevin Apt, and Kevin’s wife, Michelle Apt, and to his daughter, Kelly Apt Hutton. He was a cherished grandfather to Kaylin Apt, Kaleb Apt, and Madison Hutton, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
George worked for many years as a skilled machinist, a trade that reflected his strong work ethic, precision, and reliability. He also honorably served four years in the United States Navy, an experience that instilled in him a lasting sense of discipline and patriotism.
Deeply committed to his community, George gave generously of his time to youth athletics. He served as President of Westbrook Little League and was a coach for both Westbrook Tuffy Football and Little League Baseball. He also dedicated many years to umpiring baseball and served on the board of the Western Maine Umpires Association. Through these roles, he mentored countless young people, leaving a lasting impact that extended far beyond the playing field. He was also a proud member of the Lions Club, continuing his lifelong dedication to service.
A devoted sports fan, George was a loyal supporter of the New York Yankees and Duke athletics, passions he followed with enthusiasm throughout his life.
George’s legacy lives on in his family and in the many lives he touched through his service and leadership. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
