Obituary

Gorham - Gay D. Glazier, died suddenly January 31, 2016 after a short illness. A few days before her death Gay was scheduled to leave on vacation, became gravely ill and was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Gay was born March 22, 1946 to Evelyn and Wilbur Glazier (predeased). Upon retirement, Gay relocated to Maine to be with family. Survived by her sister, Judith Berry and brother in law, Les Berry of Gorham, nephew Chris Berry and his wife, Katherine and their two children Sophia and Adam, (affectionately called by Gay as the "little people"), and niece Julie Berry of Los Angeles. Gay loved high tea parties with Sophia and Adam, traveling with her parents and the warmth of the sun. She was known for her love of planting colorful flowers and took pride in her ever-changing seasonal gardens around her home. Gay loved to feed wild birds all year and would in the middle of snowstorms shovel paths to the feeders to make sure her bird visitors were fed. Most of all Gay was known for her devotion and constant loving care she gave to her mother, Evelyn, who lived with Gay until Evelyn's death at age 94. Gay showed a strength and commitment that was exceptional. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mercy Hospital Critical Care Unit and friends Elaine and Linda who provided loving care to Gay in her final days. A Memorial Service will be held at St Anne's Catholic Church, 299 Main St., Gorham, Maine on Thursday, February 4th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Gay's memory to Baxter Library, 71 South St., Gorham, ME 04038, which Gay visited daily. Arrangements by the Dolby and Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham, ME.
