Galen W.B. Franklyn January 8, 1972 - April 21, 2023 Galen W.B. Franklyn, age 51 died unexpectedly on Friday April 21st, 2023 of natural causes outside of his home in Gorham, Maine. He was born on January 8th, 1972 in Portland, Maine. He was the son of the late Sandra Buzzell Boyce Franklyn, who passed on in July of 2021, and Russell Newell Franklyn of Baldwin, Maine. Galen was also predeceased by his biological father Galen Wallace Boyce of Presque Isle, who passed before Galen was born. Galens lifelong Dad was Russell Franklyn. Galen graduated from Gorham High School class of 1990. He was also a graduate of Southern Maine Community College in South Portland with a Computer Sciences degree. He was employed by Systems Engineering in Portland, as a Computer Help Desk Technician. It was a career that he loved and enjoyed doing. Galen was a soldier with the United States Navy from the years 1990 to 1993. His job title in the U.S. Navy was Ocean Systems Analyst. He was stationed in Bermuda and later the State of Virginia before being honorably discharged in 1993. Galen had a love for life and many interests including keeping bees, raising turkeys, bowling, working in the yard, and travel. He was a music and movie enthusiast. He also had a love of and much interesting knowledge about both Military History and American Baseball. He was always interested in current events, and nature studies. He considered himself an amateur pit-master of smoked and Barbecued food. He pursued his interests with a zest for life. Galen is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Lorie (Rowden) Franklyn of Gorham, his father Russell Newell Franklyn of Baldwin, his sister Kristi Smith and her partner Jason Bishop of Baldwin, his sister Rebecca Franklyn of Sanford Maine, and many beloved members of his extended family of cousins, Aunts, and Uncles. Galens Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at the Steep Falls Country Church at 35 Main Street in Steep Falls Maine. All who wish to attend are welcome.
