GORHAM – Frances M. Maye, 80, passed away on July 6, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Standish, on September 21, 1937, the daughter of Leon and Virginia (Fogg) Morton. Frances loved her family, and they were a large and important part of her life. She resided in Gorham, and was a cook for the Gorham School Department for over 20 years before she retired. Frances also enjoyed being a short order cook during camping season at Acres of Wildlife. In her spare time, she liked, and was skilled at, all kinds of handwork. Frances is survived by her three daughters, Sheila Young, Lorie Gallant and husband Ken, and Wendy Gilliam and husband Tim; three grandchildren, Dan Young and wife Shanann and their children, Carter and Lily, Jen MacDonald and husband Bill and their children, Preston and Piper, and Jared Gilliam; brother, Vernon Morton and wife Judy; niece, Amy; nephew, Dale; former son-in-law, Ron Young; and close friends who were more like family, Cheryle and Ray Barnes and Bunnie Washburn. In addition to her parents, Frances is predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Maye. A graveside service will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at North Street Cemetery, Route 114, Gorham.
