Portland - Florida M. Tondreau, 98, A resident of the Assisted Living Facility of St Joseph's Manor, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2013. Florida, the daughter of Sam and Rose Arsenault, was born in Rumford, Maine on January 26, 1915. After leaving school, she worked providing care for mothers with new babies. At the age of 25, she ventured to Westbrook, Maine to live with her Aunt and Uncle and obtained a job at the Star Laundry. There she met her future husband, Andrew Tondreau. They were married on June 25, 1938 and their union lasted 69 years until his death in 2007. Florida worked for many years at S.D. Warren and then Universal Watkins and finally retired from Claristat . Florida leaves behind a daughter, Sandra Trueworthy and husband Ken of Porter, Two brothers, Brother Gerard Arsenault of Vina, California and Armand Arsenault of Port Angeles, Washington. Seven grandchildren, James Francoeur and wife Sandi of Scarborough, Linda Howard and husband Rodney of Steep Falls, Patricia Ames and husband Scott of Minot, Debra Cary and husband Reggie of Buxton, David Francoeur and wife Tammy of Westbrook, Peter Francoeur of Hiram, Karen Profenno and husband Kris of Auburn. Twenty one great grandchildren and eighteen great, great grandchildren. Three step grandchildren, Darin Trueworthy of Cornish, Amy Davis of Bowdoin, Danny Trueworthy of Windham and many nieces and nephews. Florida was predeceased by her husband Andrew as well as five sisters, Beatrice, Yvette, Bernadette and Theresa and five brothers, Henry, Meddie, Joe, Arthur and Alfred. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and employees at St. Joesph's Manor for their wonderful, caring and compassionate care over the past nine years. Visiting hours will be Friday, February 1, from 5-8 p.m. at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook. (854-2341). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's of Padua (Formerly, St. Hyacinth's), 268 Brown Street, Westbrook, ME. Burial will be held in the spring.
