Florence S. Lindsay, 81, of Crestview Dr., passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Bangor, the daughter of Dr. Burnham and Willa (Stewart) Sewell. She was raised in Lincoln and graduated from the Eastern Maine General School of Nursing in 1952. She married Fletcher W. Lindsay in in 1953 and moved to Millinocket, they later moved to Portland in 1973. Florence worked as a Registered Nurse at Eastern Maine General in Bangor, the Workman Hospital in Lincoln, and also as a private duty nurse. She later worked as a manager at the Owen Moore Clothing Store in Portland. She served as President of the Summit Street Community Club. Florence enjoyed summering at Cold Stream Pond in Enfield, collecting dolls and beanie babies, knitting and crocheting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Carolyn, whom she always called "Sister" She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fletcher Lindsay of Portland; two sons Fletcher II and Brian and his companion Marilyn, all of Portland; a daughter Sandra and husband Mark Weimer of Windham; grandchildren Julia of Newton, MA, Nicole and Kayla of Portland. Visiting hours will be from 1 to 3 PM Tuesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, followed by a funeral service at 3 PM.
