Portland – Fletcher W. Lindsay, 85, of Crestview Dr. Passed away Friday Nov. 23, at the Mercy Hospital. He was born in Kingman, Me. The son of Byron and Etta White Lindsay. He was raised and educated in Kingman and was a graduate of Lee Academy and was also a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono, with a degree in Mechanical engineering, while at the University, he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served in the U. S. Air Force, as a Staff Sargent and was honorably discharged . He married Florence W. Sewell in 1953 and moved to Millinocket, they later moved to Portland in 1973. He had been employed by Great Northern Paper Co. for 20 years and later the S. D. Warren Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed boating, golf, hunting and fishing. His wife Florence S. Lindsay passed away in August of this year and he was also predeceased by 2 sisters. He is survived by 2 sons Fletcher II and Brian and his companion Marilyn all of Portland, daughter Sandra and husband Mark Weimer of Windham, grandchildren Julia of Newton, MA. and Nicole and Kayla of Portland. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the funeral services at 3: 00 p.m. at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St. Westbrook. Spring interment will be in West Broadway Cemetery, in Lincoln, ME.
