Fernand R. Bougie, 85 WESTBROOK – Fernand R. Bougie, 85, of Cole Street, Westbrook, passed away, Thursday October 23, 2014. He was born in Sanford, the son of Ovila and Eva (Rouleau) Bougie. He grew up in Sanford and attended local schools. He was a communicant of St.Anthony's church Westbrook and a member of the American Legion Post 197. Fernand was also a Korean war veteran serving in the Army. His Brother in Law, Reverend Charles J Ledoux introduced Memere Bougie to Memere Ledoux and her daughter Carmella at a whist party at the Holy Family church in Sanford where he was a parish priest. Memere Bougie asked Carmella if she would write to her son Fernand in Germany and she agreed. The rest as they say is history. Fern moved to Westbrook, married Carmella and settled down. He worked at S.D.Warren for 38 years as a Cratfsman / Millwright retiring when he was 62. Fern enjoyed his family over anything else but also enjoyed golf, gardening, his camps on Watchic and Sebago lakes and the backyard pool. He was predeceased by His wife of 55 years Carmella F (Ledoux) Bougie, His parents Ovila and Eva Bougie, his brothers Gerard, Leo Paul, Conrad, and Rheal Bougie. He is survived by his children Celine Bougie, Albert Bougie, Charles Bougie and his wife Courtney and their children Jillian, Erika Payne, Shawn Townsend, Kyle Townsend and Rick Townsend, brother Roger Bougie and his wife MaryJane, sisters Jacqueline Goudreau, Rita Grondin and her husband Raymond, Lorraine Grondin and her husband Ronald, Simone Allen and her husband Paul and several nieces and nephews. Fernand was a humble man of great faith and will be missed. Visiting hours will be from 4pm to 8pm Sunday, October 26th at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Anthony's Church, Brown Street, Westbrook. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Stockhouse Restaurant 506 Main St, in Westbrook. The family wishes to extend the deepest gratitude to the caregivers at Seaside Skilled Rehabilitation Center for impeccable care given to Fernand.
