Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Evelyn Douglass on March 18, 2026, lovingly known by all as Bunny. She passed peacefully in Deatsville, Alabama at the home of her oldest daughter, Sharon Sparrow, after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on March 29,1936 in Fairfield, Maine to Evelyn Eva Goodwin/Booth and Kenneth William Booth. Through her journey of 89 years, she touched many lives with her genuine kindness and sense of humor.

For most of her adult life, she resided in Westbrook, Maine as a homemaker and mother. Prior to moving in with her daughter in December 2024, she had resided at the Enclave, an assisted living facility in Scarborough, Maine and then at Barrington Terrace, an assisted living facility in Naples, FL. She was well loved by the staff and other residents at both facilities. She was known to always be there to lend a hand, reach out to fellow residents who seemed lonely or sad, welcome new residents, and always ready with a smile for everyone.

She loved pets, gardening, bingo, card games, arranging sleepovers for the grandchildren, neighborhood pajama parties, talking to people while shopping, and spontaneous activities with her sister Georgia, like pool hopping in the neighborhood, not to mention all the family water fights.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Douglass; one daughter, Susan Moses of Standish, Maine; and two sisters, Norma and Lorraine (Betty).

She is survived by her 94 year old sister, Georgia Coron, of Morgantown, West Virginia; her son, Scott Douglass of Westbrook, Maine; her daughter Sharon Sparrow of Deatsville, Alabama; 6 grandchildren: Katie Sparrow/Feury of Florida and in Maine: Jamie Moses/Wrobel, Carrie Moses/Rossignol, Sierra Douglass, Max Douglass, and Logan Douglass; and 8 great grandchildren: Emily, Adelynn, Amelia, Charlie, Owen, Rory, Luna, and Ember.

A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on June 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Evelyn (Bunny) Douglass’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
