Evelyn M. (Bean) Goodwin, 91, of Bridgton Road passed away Friday at her home cared for by her primary caregiver, her granddaughter Karen (McCarthy) Anthony in her last days. She was born in Portland, a daughter of Howard and Margaret Bean. She attended Portland schools, graduating from Portland high School in 1939. Mrs. Goodwin had been employed by New England Ship Building, working on Liberty Ships. She was an original "Rosie the Riveter" She was also employed at Portland Dress Factory, Westbrook Woolen Factory, Portland Clothespin Factory, G.T.E. Sylvania, and General Dynamics as a computer inspector. She attended the Warren Congregational Church of Westbrook, was a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Portland Eagles Club, and president of the old Westbrook P.T.A. She loved family, knitting/crocheting, baking, garage sales, and Christmas. She is survived by her children Judith E. Deroche of Westbrook, ME Geraldine D. McCarthy of Palm Bay, FL, Douglas A. Goodwin of Fort Worth, TX, and Dyann G. Moore of South Portland, ME; 19 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
