Eva Boivin Marier,101 years young, passed away peaceably June 20, 2013. Born in Lancaster, NH, Eva was one of 14 children born to Arthur and Emma Boivin. Her family shortly thereafter made the move to Quebec, Canada and later settled in Westbrook, ME. While in church, she met her husband of 66 years, Rene Marier. While Rene traveled the globe first as a boxer, then as a merchant marine and then an inventor of cough syrup, Eva preferred being home with her four daughters….Every Sunday, Eva and the girls walked to mass together and every night she heard their prayers. She would turn the simplest fare into something special with her recipes from "The Old Country". An avid seamstress, Eva stitched all their clothes by hand and created beautiful costumes for skating & dance competitions, numerous school pageants and plays. She fostered their self esteem by encouraging them to "do your best" and "never let anyone put you down". Her motto was "if you believe in yourself , others will follow". She encouraged their creativity and nourished their spirits and led by example. Eva will always be remembered as a beautiful lady who loved music and loved to dance and who had a kind word for everyone. She is survived by her sister, Lucia Boivin Wojciechowski, of S. Milwaukie, Wisconsin and her two youngest daughters, Marcella Marier Hesoun of Surgoinsville, TN. and Lucia Marier Warren of Gray, ME and Bradenton, FL. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 32 great children and 20 great-great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. Special mention to Rocky Hill Manor, assisted living, where Eva received wonderful family care for the last five years. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Parish, Brown St. Westbrook. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery.
