Obituary

Scarborough Eugene P. Larrivee, 98, died Monday July 2, 2018, at the Maine Veterans Home, Scarborough. He was born May 31, 1920, in Westbrook, the son of Leo and Aurore (Fredette) Larrivee. Gene grew up in Westbrook and attended local schools. He enjoyed a long career with the S.D. Warren Paper Company in the coating department and became a member of the 40 year club. Gene was a devoted family man and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. In his retirement, Gene went on a fishing trip to Alaska with his friends, Paul and Lynda. He was especially fond of telling his friends and family about his trip. He was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's church and member of the Stephen W. Manchester American Legion Post of Westbrook. In addition to his parents Gene was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years Ruth (McFarland) Larrivee, brother, Arthur Larrivee, and sisters, Lillian Harvey and Edna Boulanger. He is survived by his brothers, Gerard Larrivee and Rene Larrivee; children, Leanne Christensen and her husband Eric of Scarborough, Ronnie Larrivee of Florida, Jon Larrivee and his wife Debra of New Gloucester, and Tom Larrivee and his wife Teresa of Buxton; grandchildren, Chris, Lisa, Laurie, Nicole, Stephen, Brett, Heather, Megan, and Paige; eleven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Units E and C at the Vertans' Home and the Compassus Hospice care team for the compassionate care extended to Gene during his stay. A graveside service will be held 11:00AM Saturday July 7th at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Stroudwater Street, Westbrook.
