Eugene F. LeConte, 84, went home to his God on June 27, 2012. He was born on 05/18/1928, the 5th child of Hazel Landry and Eugene LeConte Sr, of Westbrook, ME. He grew up here and was educated in the Westbrook School System. He also served in the USMC during the Korean Conflict and upon discharge returned home to Westbrook where he went to work for the SD Warren Paper Co. for 45 years. He also worked part time for Robert Blais Jr. at Blais Funeral Home. He built his house nail, screw & bolt, saying he'd never build another house again. He loved to Garden, marveling at the 6' tall tomato plants that produced before falling to the ground, the big boy variety, his favorite. He loved to travel and keep in touch with fellow Marines all over the country. He used the month of October for vacationing and claims to have visited all 50 states except Hawaii & Alaska. He was a member of Steven Manchester Post, American Legion of Westbrook. He is survived by his brothers Paul and Conrad of Westbrook, Robert of New London, CT, Norwood of Dennis, FL, and a sister Carleen Simpson of So. Portland. Eugene will be interred in the family lot in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM Monday at St. Antony's Church.
