Eugene N. Desfosses, 73, of Little Ave., Westbrook, passed away Thursday June 30, 2016 at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Westbrook, the son of Joseph and Louise (Beaumier) Desfosses. Eugene worked for 37 years at S.D. Warren before retiring. On July 29, 1967, he married his wife of 49 years, Sandra O'Rourke, of Saco. Gene found great joy in being outdoors; he loved hunting, fishing, and clamming. He was a loving husband, father, and cherished the times he spent with his grandchildren Ashley and Morgan. Gene enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He was a gun & antique enthusiast who enjoyed their historical significance. He loved anything and everything about guns and enjoyed going to gun shows with his friends. He had a knack for finding a "good deal". You could easily find Gene talking with his neighbors and having an open door to anyone and everyone. Many considered him the "neighborhood dad" and mentor who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was predeceased by his beloved son Brian Eugene Desfosses. He is survived by his wife Sandra (O'Rourke) Desfosses of Westbrook; daughter Eileen Clark and her husband Kenyon of Windham; grandchildren Ashley and Morgan Clark; brothers Paul Desfosses and wife Becky of Gorham, and Richard Desfosses and wife Linda of Clearwater, FL; and a sister Barbara Napolitano of Gray. Visiting hours will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon with a memorial service to follow at Noon on Saturday, July 9, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.
