Gorham Ethel B. (Fowler) Wright, 89, died Monday March 27, at the Gorham House. She was born March 3, 1928 in Augusta the daughter of Jacob and Ethel (Spinney) Fowler. Ethel grew up in Augusta, attended local schools and was a 1946 graduate of Cony High School. She enjoyed a career as a Home Economics Teacher with the Auburn, Bath, and Gorham Jr. High Schools. She was an active volunteer with the Eunice Frye Home, and a proud member of the Beta Sigma Phi, and Alpha Delta Kappa sororities. Ethel enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, gardening, cooking and decorating. She will be remembered as a caring person with a passion for educating others. In addition to her parents Ethel was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years Lawrence Wright. She is survived by her children, Deborah Noble and her husband Albert of Buxton, and Stephen Wright and his wife Kelly of Standish; and grandchildren, Shane Noble and Kyle and Lauren Wright. Ethel's family would like to thank the staff of the Windsor II Unit of the Gorham House and the staff of Compassus Hospice for their wonderful care and support. A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Sunday April 2, at the Gorham Chapel of Dolby Funeral Chapels, 76 State Street, Gorham. An hour of visitation will be held from 1:00PM until the start of the service. Burial will be held in the spring at Forest Grove Cemetery, Augusta.
