GORHAM – Ethel J. (Morton) Greene Quattrucci, 99, died Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Seaside Rehab in Portland. She was born June 4, 1921 in Gorham, a daughter of Frank and Aurilla (Saunders) Morton. Ethel grew up in Gorham and Savannah, Georgia and attended local schools. In 1967, she attended SMVTI graduating as an LPN. She retired to St. Cloud, Florida in 1977 and returned to Maine with her first husband in 1985. Her family was very dear to her. She was a scout den mother for her sons' scout troops and she and "Babe" were involved in their sons' little league in Portland. She was also a founder of the first PTA in Gorham, Maine. There are so many memories of all the wonderful times her children and grandchildren experienced with her. Ethel loved music of all kinds and had a beautiful singing voice and played the piano and organ. She loved to dance and ballroom dancing was her passion. She took ballroom dancing lessons in Florida and assisted the instructors there and in Maine. She loved people and was extremely outgoing and friendly. As her nephew, Frank, said, "she was a paragon of handling everything life can throw at you and staying strong. She still found joy in life when it wasn't so easy to find." She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her. In addition to her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her first husband of 47 years, Ellsworth "Babe" J. Greene, Sr.; her second husband of 29 years, John Quattrucci; three sons, Bruce E. Greene, Ellsworth J. Greene, Jr., and Michael S. Greene; and her six siblings, Angie Spring, Winnifred Robichaud, Beverly Marie Taylor, Keith Morton, Donald Morton, and Beth "Betty" Dusty. She is survived by her children, Mary (Greene) Coulombe and her husband Lester, Stephen Greene and his wife Linda, and Brian Greene; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; Theresa Greene (widow of Michael) and her husband Frank Spring; and many nieces and nephews. Ethel will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Gorham. A celebration of life will be held in June 2021.
