Gorham- Erwin Harry Sanborn, 86, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at his home. The son of Harry and Arlene (Murch) Sanborn, he was born on January 6, 1931 in West Baldwin. He attended schools in West Baldwin, and graduated from Porter Academy. He worked for most of his life for the Gorham school district as a bus driver. He also worked, as a custodian, at St. Joseph's College for 15 years. Before he retired he was honored by the college for his years of service. He loved his grandchildren, and he provided a home to many other children who needed one. He and his wife Grace were foster parents to 59 children through the years. He belonged to the Masons, and enjoyed watching the Red Sox, staying up as late as he needed to see the end of the game. He is survived by his wife Grace, of 56 years, his daughter Malinda Goulet, and her husband Ted of Standish, sons James and Christopher Sanborn, both of Gorham, his grandchildren, Cori Sanborn, Courtney Roy and her husband Alex, Joshua Goulet, Elijah Sanborn, Emma Sanborn, and Carley Sanborn. He is also survived by his twin brother Elwin E. Sanborn. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service, on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Sapling Hill Cemetery, Sebago Lake Rd. Gorham. A reception will follow at White Rock Grange Hall, Wilson Rd. Gorham. Arrangements are under the care of Dolby Funeral Chapel, Windham.
