Westbrook, Ernest E Shorey II, of Westbrook, passed away on Friday, August 25th, 2017.  He was 37. Ernie was born on July 6th, 1980, in San Antonio, Texas.  After living in Colorado and California briefly, the family moved to Maine in 1985. He attended Gorham High School. Ernie enjoyed the usual boyhood activities and sports. He collected baseball cards and had an impressive rock collection.  He had a pet snake for about 24 hours and a mail-ordered lizzard, too.  Ernie was a Boy Scout and liked camping, exploring the outdoors, riding his bicycles and horses.  He played baseball and was goalie for his soccer team. In high school he was an excellent snowboarder and participated in track. Ernie enjoyed shooting pool and was quite good. Ernie and his high school buddies formed a garage band, Shufflin' Tremble. He was something else sitting behind his double-base Pearl drum set. Shufflin' Tremble won local acclaime. Ernie discovered his love for cooking after High School and worked in a number of restaurants in the Old Port before finding his second home at Profenno's in Westbrook where he had been for 10 years. He is survived by his mother Glenda Neel of Texas, his father Ernest Shorey and wife Beverly Shorey and sister Christine Scott, her husband Brandon and daughter Keira as well as half-brother Kenneth Grimsley, all of Portland.  He is also survived by his grandmother, several aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was well-loved by many and will be greatly missed.
