STANDISH - Erlon Herbert Marean, 82, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. He was born in Standish on July 9, 1935. He was the son of Herbert Marean and Marion Sanborn Marean. Erlon was a graduate of Standish High School. Erlon worked many years at Southworth Machine Company in Portland. He did welding and machine assembly and in later years worked as the customer service manager. He had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Canada to service equipment. He also had the opportunity to travel to Australia to service equipment and also include a mini vacation. He later worked for EDM of Westbrook. Erlon enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and snowmobiling. For many years he groomed trails for the Standish Sno-Seekers. This summer he enjoyed many weekends watching boats in and out at the Sebago Lake boat launch. Erlon shared 54 years of marriage with his wife and caregiver, Margaret (Smith) Marean of Standish, who was by his side every day. Erlon and Margaret enjoyed many bus trips in the U.S. and Canada. In addition to his wife, family members include a son, Bradley S. Marean of Standish; sisters, Janette Flament of Standish and Lois Tozier of Limington as well as nieces and nephews. Also, as pictured, the family dog, Maggie. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Joanne Waltz. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 76 State Street, Gorham from 1:00pm – 2:00pm on Friday, September 22, 2017 followed by a 2:00pm funeral at the chapel.
