GORHAM - Elizabeth "Betty" Cone Clifford, 92, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born in Houlton, Maine, and was a graduate of Houlton High School and the Madigan School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 20 years at the Mercy Hospital, in Portland, until her retirement in 1985. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westbrook and had served in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher and Deaconess. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star. Betty was a strong, independent "County-Girl" whose greatest joys were spending time with her family, board games, cribbage and Rook. Grammy Betty/GG loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known to shoot pool with them back in the day, make their favorite mac 'n cheese and, most recently, play Bingo with them – they always put a smile on her face. Betty was predeceased by her mother and father, Amy (McCready) and Walter Cone; her husband, Jerome "Romie" Clifford, in 1991; and siblings, Virginia Merritt, Barbara Hoskin, Dorothy Cone, and James Cone. She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Jill Knight, Mary Lea Sturgeon (Tom), Kimberly Lipps (John); grandchildren, Michael Knight (Cyndi), Kristin Bush (Travis), Jack Lipps (Shannon) and Jesse Lipps (Megan); great-grandchildren, Zach, Alex, Bria, Myka, Ben, Ezra and Vera; brothers, Robert Cone and Lawrence Cone (Debbie); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caregivers at The Gorham House, where she spent the last year and a half. Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the Gorham Chapel of Dolby Blais & Segee, 76 State Street, Gorham, ME; with a funeral being held 11 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2022 at FBC Westbrook, 733 Main Street, Westbrook, ME.
