Obituary

Windham – Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Dow) Pride, 73, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Bay Square at Yarmouth after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born February 5, 1944, in Waterville, Maine, the daughter of the late Everitt George Casterline and Myra Adelaide Lee Dow. Betty grew up in Carpentersville and Phillipsburg, NJ. While attending school, she participated in the band, playing saxophone and clarinet, and she performed in various school plays. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg, NJ. After high school, she moved to Maine and married Donald Clarence Pride of Westbrook. Betty will always be remembered for bringing a smile to every occasion and her infectious laugh. Betty's passion was for her family, friends, gardening, scrapbooking, music, and reading. She enjoyed singing in her church's choir and several holiday productions. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by two brothers, Leslie Willard Dow and Everett Ernest Casterline. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Donald Clarence Pride of Windham; their four loving sons: Donald Jeffrey Pride of Portland, his wife Shelli and their children, DJ and Danielle; Thomas Michael Pride of Conway, South Carolina, his wife Lori and their son, Derek; Michael Leon Pride of Chester, New York, his wife Brooke and their children Charlie and Annie; David Anthony Pride of Windham and his wife Erin. She is also survived by her brothers, Ralph Wesley Dow of Redmond, Oregon, Eugene Albert Casterline of Easton, PA, and Edmund Lee Casterline of Easton, PA and her sister, Patricia Agnes Dow of Doylestown, PA. The family thanks the staff at Bay Square of Yarmouth for the loving care that Betty received while there. Visiting hours will be held 5 – 7 pm, Friday, April 28, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A funeral Service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, April 29, at Windham Assembly of God, 1051 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook.
