Eleanor A. Barrows, 84, formerly of Westbrook, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Gorham, the daughter of Leslie and Waverly (Bracket) Swett. She lived most of her life in Westbrook and worked for several years at Fairchild Semiconductor and Bradlees Dept. Store. Eleanor cherished her time with family; she enjoyed getting homemade cards from them and teaching them cooking skills, especially her great granddaughter Allie. She also liked sitting by the pool and drinking bloody marys. She was predeceased by her husband Earl; a son Donald; and brothers Donald and Norman Keay. She is survived by her daughter Jackie Day of Portland; sons David and wife Donna Buchanan of Portland, Michael Barrows of Jacksonville, FL, and Jim and wife Lynda Barrows of Westbrook; grandchildren Melissa Mancini, Michelle Carpine, Katie Cook, Shelby Barrows, and Brian Barrows; great grandchildren Derek and Allie Carpine. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff in the critical care unit at Mercy Hospital. They not only took fantastic care of our mother, but also took care of all the needs of the family. They went above and beyond. May God Bless. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. On line condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
