Portland – Eleanor "Ellie" J. Rowe, 91, of Portland passed away peacefully from complications due to stroke at Seaside Skilled Rehabilitation Center in Portland on September 25, 2016. Ellie was born October 13, 1924 in Brighton, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Licciardi. On January 18, 1947, she married (the late) John E. Romatowski of Yonkers, New York, later changing their last name to Rowe, before going on to lead an amazing life raising six children. She is survived by a sister, Frances Hartwell of Bristol, Rhode Island; sons Christopher of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Jeffrey, and his wife Amy, of Simi Valley, California, and Bradford of Middleboro, Massachusetts; daughters Kimberly of Portland, Tracey, and her husband Jonathan Huff, of Westbrook, and Sue of Long Island, New York. She also leaves 8 grandchildren: Nicholas Rowe, and his wife Kelly, of Los Angeles, California; Margot, Madeline, Sophie, and Sam Rowe of Simi Valley, California; Hope, Cole and Carina Higgins of Westbrook; 1 great-grandson, Miles Rowe of Los Angeles, California; nephew Hardy Hartwell, and his wife Arlene, of Bristol, Rhode Island; niece Leslie Hartwell, and her husband David Jameson, of Arlington, Massachusetts; and so many friends considered "honorary family".
