Eleanor T. Fuller—Gorham—Eleanor T. Fuller, of Libby Avenue died peacefully, surrounded by her sons, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in Auburn. She was born in Bangor, Maine on December 29, 1926, a daughter of Raymond and Eleanor Knowles Torrey. Eleanor (known as "Betty") attended Bangor schools, and established a cookie delivery route in her neighborhood. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1945, then attended the University of Maine at Orono graduating in 1949 with a degree in psychology. In 1950 she married Donald C. Fuller, with whom she moved to Massachusetts and raised three boys. Eleanor taught school at Perkins School in Lancaster, MA and later was a teachers aid in North Reading, MA. Never having lost her love of baking, she made a business of baking cookies for shops in Boston and the surrounding area. Donald predeceased her in 1981. After her husband's passing, Eleanor moved back to Maine, making her home in Gorham, where she enjoyed baking, gardening, her sheltie dogs and making quilts. She ran a well-known yearly craft fair in Gorham known as the Crafty Hideaway Fair, and volunteered at the Animal Rescue League in Westbrook for many years. A lifelong Baptist, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Reading and attended the First Baptist Church in Westbrook. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte M. Torrey. Survivors include her sons, Donald C. Fuller Jr. of Durham, ME, David A. Fuller of Auburn, ME and Kevin D. Fuller of Billerica, MA, three grandchildren, Torrey Fuller, Rebecca Fuller and Jessica Fields, five great-grandchildren, Ella Fields, Tula Fields, Liam Fuller, Caleb Fuller and Alleigh Hawkes, and one step-great-grandchild, Doctor Fields. Eleanor asked that donations in her memory be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, PO Box 336, Westbrook, ME 04098. A public graveside service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 9 AM at the Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, ME 04330.
