Edward Michael Durrell, 75, of Windham, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023. Edward, fondly known to many as Mike, Ed, or Eddie, was born on October 10, 1947 to Mary (Conely) and Edward H. Durrell in Portland, Maine. After graduating from Portland High School, he served in the Army and was stationed at Bongrey Bay, Vietnam from 1968-1969. Upon his return and discharge from the Army, he moved to Windham where he lived for many years. As his children grew into adults and left home, he left Maine to live in Texas for a brief time so that he could care for his aging parents. He made many friends in the short time he lived there. He ultimately returned to his home state, once again moving to Windham to live along the water. Ed had a long career working for UPS. The work was tough, but he enjoyed his customers, their pets, and fostering friendships with his co-workers. Once retired, he spent his time with his beloved dogs going on daily walks to discover new trails. Paisley has stayed behind, but Kati, Blaze, and several other of his dogs are on a long walk with him now. He took great pride being able to coach his daughters' soccer teams. Ed worked long hours delivering packages, but made the time to be there for every practice and every game. He is known as Grampie to his grandchildren. He came to life when the kids came to visit. Numerous water fights would end up with him bringing a hose into the house, catching the kids in shock and erupting laughter. The louder the kids were, the better. Never quick to come to judgement, he would help those who he had known for years and those who he had just met, never expecting anything in return. He truly cared about the people in his life and seeing them succeed. Edward is survived by his brother John Durrell, his daughters Marisa Noury and her husband Matthew Noury, and Ashley Durrell and her husband Graham Isaacson. He leaves behind grandchildren Olivia Noury, Makayla Noury, Abigail Noury, Tobias Noury, Aurora Isaacson, and Jonah Isaacson. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023 4-5pm with a memorial service to follow at 5pm at Dolby, Blais, Segee Funeral Home, 434 River Road, Windham Maine 04062.
