Obituary

Edith Crawford Dyer Morse, 101, of Westbrook, passed away May 7, 2012, at Falmouth by the Sea. Born in Westbrook, she was daughter of Stewart and Mabel Crawford.  Edith was a 1929 graduate of Westbrook High School.    She was first married to Ted Dyer and they had had a daughter Gertrude Ann.       Edith was employed for at S.D. Warren as a secretary for the finishing Department.  She was very active in the National Secretaries Association.  Edith enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, ceramics, seafood, trips to the beach, and reading. She lived most of her adult life in South Windham at her little yellow house built by her second husband Eben Morse.  In her later years, she lived at Millbrook Estates, and then moved to assisted living at Foreside Harbor in Falmouth.  After a period of declining health, she transferred to Falmouth by the Sea. A special thanks to all the staff of Falmouth by the Sea and Beacon Hospice, who gave her excellent care and love in her final days. She was predeceased by her husband Eben Morse; her parents, a daughter Gertrude Stevens, infant sister Edna, and sister Stella Lowell; also special friends Roscoe and Hattie Berry. She is survived by her sister Margaret Donovan of Westbrook; brother Edward Crawford of Cumberland; three grandchildren, Kathy Stevens Dunlap and husband Robert of Herndon, VA and their children Daniel and Laura, Patricia Stevens Alley and husband Michael of Bangor, ME and their children Justin and Chris, Linda Stevens Babbidge and husband Scott of Matthews, NC and daughter Sierra; a niece Jane Bolduc, and three nephews, Dr. David Lowell, Dr. Walter Lowell, and Mark Lowell. A visiting hour will be held from 10 to 11 AM Friday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.  A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME  04074.
