WINDHAM - Edith Eleanor Davies who was 72 years young went home to be with her Lord and Saviour unexpectedly, yet peacefully in her home in the early morning hours of Monday April 13, 2020 while sleeping next to her loving husband of 53 yrs. Edith known by everyone as "Edie" was born in Portland, ME as the only daughter to Ellen Lucille Libby/Jenkins and James Libby. She was raised by her mother and step father, Waylend Jenkins and was a 1965 Portland High graduate. On September 17, 1966 she married her high school sweetheart, Leon Davies and together they bought their first and only new home in Windham, ME which they filled with 3 children and over 50 years of loving memories including the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016. Edie was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church and loved spending time reading her Bible. She was also a faithful employee of Home Depot for over 24 years where she was well liked by both her peers as well as customers. She loved the outdoors, gardening, sewing and the challenge of a good puzzle. Although she loved to travel, her favorite place was seeing the Amish way of life in Lancaster county, PA. Edie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother who loved her family. She was an outgoing, thoughtful and gentle soul who left an impact on every person she met and although her presence will be greatly missed we take comfort in knowing she is in Heaven's Glory. Edie left behind a legacy of warm, and loving memories in the hearts of people who knew her best especially her family. She is survived by her husband, Leon Davies; her 3 children, Scott, Jennifer and Jessica as well as 6 grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Andrea, Alexandra, Elana and Dillon; and 2 great grandchildren, Vincent and Lenora. She is also survived by her brother, Ray and 2 aunts, Vesta and Dorna. There will be a memorial service but due to the global pandemic and restrictions, a date has not been set at this time. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the cancer society as she was a breast cancer survivor or a charity of choice.
