Westbrook – Dwayne E. Symbol, 84, died on Monday, September 11, 2017, at Stroudwater Lodge in Westbrook. He was born in Portland, on October 22, 1932, the son of John Symbol and Irene (Gallant) Horsman. Dwayne was a graduate of Standish High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent over 20 months in the Honor Guard. After his service, he worked for SD Warren as a machine operator for over 30 years. Dwayne enjoyed being outdoors, and hunting and fishing. He often spent his free time at the horse track. He wasn't a man to gamble, but simply loved being in the atmosphere around the horses and the many close friends he made over the years. Dwayne is survived by his three grandchildren, Samantha Day and husband Chris, Heather Gaudreau and husband Jason, and Edward Symbol and wife Stacy; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Scott Symbol. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Steep Falls Cemetery, Route 113, Standish.
