Obituary

South Portland Douglas S. Morton, 64, died Friday June 23, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. He was born April 7, 1959, in Albuquerque, NM, a son of Keith and Nellie (Robinson) Morton. Doug grew up in a military family living all over the country, but spent his summers in Maine with family. He was a graduate of Southern Maine Technical College and enjoyed a career as a mechanic and high lift operator working for the City of Portland, Forest City Chevrolet, and Emery Waterhouse. Doug loved the outdoors, especially fishing, and spending time with his family. He was dedicated to helping others with their sobriety. He'll be remembered as an intelligent man with a great sense of humor who preferred to repair something over buying new. In addition to his parents Doug was predeceased by his son Jason Greenlaw. He is survived by his children, Scott Valliere of Portland, Stephen Greenlaw and his wife Samantha of Sabattus, and Dawn Siegler and her husband Joseph of Windham; sister, Holly Thompson of Milo; grandchildren, Noah, Kaylyn, Brayden, Riley, and Lily; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday July 15, at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 434 River Road, Windham. Doug will be laid to rest at a later date in Danforth. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America www.scouting.org.
